WATER SPORTS AND OTHER HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
With warm waters, guaranteed wind and two sailing locations, our setup in Mauritius is perfect for the beginning sailor and the experienced pro alike. Our approach is truly unique: we operate a relaxed and informal coaching program that is entirely adaptable to your needs. If you are looking for a gentle sail in a Laser, we are on hand to offer you some tips. If you prefer some RS500 race coaching, our experienced instructors are at hand to provide you with a top quality tuition.
To make sure you are getting the most out of your sailing instructions, you will be part of a group based on your experience and ability. We offer a recognized training programme free of charge. There are two sailing areas. The first is ideal for those learning the basics: the inner bay, protected by the reef, is the perfect safe environment to develop new skills. Outside the reef, we run controlled ‘at sea’ sessions for those with more experience. Here the wind is stronger and you can blast away and try more challenging sailing techniques.
The safe enclosed bay is perfect for getting your first taste of windsurfing. We have a full set of beginner boards and rigs. Mauritius provides ideal conditions for learning, with a reef-protected bay, flat and warm water and guaranteed gentle winds. All our experienced instructors are qualified by the British Royal Yachting Association and have several years’ experience teaching windsurfing in various locations around the world.
Paddle boarding is one of the fastest growing water sport in recent years, even though it has been around for centuries! Paddle-boarding offers a great way to explore the coastline around our centre: paddle out to the reef and get an intense fitness workout!
The wonderful, tropical underwater world of Mauritius simply begs to be explored. The azure blue sea offers a wealth of exotic animals and is known as one of the very best diving locations in the world.
Kite surfing is one of the ultimate adrenaline driven sports, whether you are blasting along, skimming across the water, or boast on huge lofty jumps. Although the top end of the sport requires significant skills, kite surfing is an easy sport to learn and you will find you make quick progress.
As an extra on your holiday you can join kite surfing lessons with Kite @ North Mauritius, which is a well-experienced kite school on the North of the island. The North of the island has year round winds and flat shallow water, making it a great place to have your first kite surfing experience.
Visit to the rum factory
The Rhumerie de Chamarel is a popular destination, set amongst vast plantations of sugar cane and tropical fruits in the fertile valleys of the South West of Mauritius. The distilleries’ rum is world renowned and the factory prides itself on its high quality, thanks to the distilling of fresh fermented cane juice rather than molasses. Freshly harvested sugarcane is hand-picked at dawn and transferred to the mills in less than four hours. The trip to the distillery gives you a chance to experience the rum making process and a chance to enjoy unique rum tasting.
